I did not forget...

I did not forget to write about my husband's 40th birthday on my blog. Instead, I decided to wait for a time when I could sit and really think about what I wanted to tell you about my husband's 40th birthday.

40 is a big birthday to celebrate. 40 seems to be somewhat hard to grasp. After all, it's "just a number", you are "only as old as you feel", etc. I have learned that, that isn't the case at all for D. With 40 quickly approaching, I found myself sitting in deep and thought-provoking conversations with him. My husband is a dreamer. He is full of unique gifting and passion. Sometimes, it seems as though God has him sitting still, seeking, asking, waiting. In the midst of the questions, it can be difficult to see that who you are matters. That being said, my hope was to celebrate D in a way that he could see that he is enjoyed, loved, adored, and delighted in by many, just because of who he is!

Who D is...
Darin is a writer,
Darin is a musician,
Darin is a pastor,
Darin is a friend,
Darin is a brother and a son
Darin is a husband and a father

Darin is authentic, a blessing, exciting, deep, tender hearted, loving, patient, "in my corner", caring, awesome, a great listener, a maverick, fun, brutal-brutally honest with his heart, kind, open, meek, strong, transparent, a leader, honest, a role model, courageous, committed, passionate, unique, wise, full of joy, steady, safe, full of honor and integrity. And the list could go on and on. These were just a few of the words that D's friends and family shared with him.

D, I love you and I look forward to what lies ahead...Happy Birthday!

We were actually talking about Darin the other day! Shaun and I were saying that Darin doesn't seem 40 at all! I am very bad at guessing peoples' ages, but I don't think I'd even come in a ballpark of putting him at 40 :) On a different note, he is more wise, mature, and alive beyond his years...

Here goes attempt #2. I'm surprised you could even have any energy to write after all the conspiring you did to surprise me! You made the day phenomenally awesome...you are sweet, tender, and my best friend. Thanks for all the ways you show you "get me!" I love you bigger than the sky my love!
